DFS Projection Updates: How to Check What Changed
A DFS projection is current only as of a time. To know whether yours is, keep three times apart: when the news happened, when the tool's numbers changed, and when you looked. Then compare the old number with the new one for the same player on the same slate, and redo anything you built from the old one.
Three times, not one
- When it happened. A player is ruled out at 6:05.
- When the numbers changed. Whatever update time the tool shows, if it shows one.
- When you checked. You looked at 6:12.
Your 6:12 look tells you what the page showed at 6:12. It does not tell you the projection had absorbed the 6:05 news. If all you have is your own check time, write "checked at 6:12." Don't write "updated at 6:12." Refreshing the page proves the page reloaded.
Compare the same row twice
A made-up example. A player projects for 22.1 at your first check and 24.8 at your second, a change of 2.7 points. Same site, same slate, same salary. Between the two checks a teammate was ruled out.
Example note: Same player, site and slate. 22.1 to 24.8 (+2.7). Teammate ruled out between checks. First check 5:50, second 6:12.
That note is enough to act on. It says what moved and the likely reason, and it doesn't pretend to know more.
What to redo
A new projection does not reach back into what you already made.
- A CSV you exported earlier still has the old numbers. Export again and keep both files.
- A simulation you ran earlier used the old projections. Run it again so the results include the change.
- A portfolio you built earlier was chosen from the old results. Rebuild it. Relabeling the old one doesn't update it.
Late news usually moves more than one player. When a starter sits, his teammates' numbers change too, so check the whole team and not only the name in the headline.
When the update doesn't show
If the tool reports an error, or the change you expect isn't there, keep your last good snapshot for comparison and label it with its time. Do not treat it as current; resolve the missing news before finalizing affected lineups. Clicking again is not confirmation that anything updated. An old number you know is old beats a number you only hope is new.
