How to Import SPAGS Projections Into an Optimizer
To use SPAGS projections in an optimizer, export the Stokastic-format CSV from the Splash Play NFL tool for your platform and slate, import it through your optimizer's custom-projection upload, then spot-check a few players on both sides. Exporting is the first step. The spot-check is what tells you the optimizer received the players and numbers you reviewed.
Pick the right file
You will meet three different CSVs, and they are not interchangeable.
- Stokastic CSV: three columns, built for importing projections. This is the one you want.
- SPAGS CSV: the wider research file with additional fields. Useful in a spreadsheet, not the import format.
- Entries CSV: the file you download from DraftKings or FanDuel listing your contest entries. It feeds the Portfolio Builder, not a projection import.
The Stokastic CSV looks like this. The row is an invented example, not a real player or ID.
| Player Name and Id | Player Name | Projection |
|---|---|---|
| Example Harbor (EXAMPLE-ID) | Example Harbor | 14.20 |
Before you download
- Set DK or FD and the slate. They decide which players and salaries are in the file.
- On a Showdown slate, check the role. Do not assume a captain or MVP row is the same as a flex row. Check the platform and use the matching export for your contest format.
- Read the warning line. If the tool says priced athletes have no projection and export as 0, stop and look at the board. A zero there is missing data, not a forecast, and an optimizer will treat it as a real zero.
After you import
Use your optimizer's own instructions for custom projections, since import screens differ. Then check four things:
- The row count matches what you exported.
- No rows were rejected or flagged as duplicates.
- The optimizer is on the same site and scoring you exported for.
- Three players you know show the same projection on both sides.
A message that says the upload succeeded tells you the file was read. It does not tell you every player matched.
Keep the original
Save the downloaded file as it came. If you edit projections, edit a copy and note what you changed. Opening the file in a spreadsheet and re-saving it can alter IDs or decimals, and the untouched original is how you find out which side changed when a number looks wrong.
